In ancient myths, the sky is a numinous space. What comes from it is of outstanding importance. This transdisciplinary volume by the Collegium Mythologicum explores myths that involve transfers from the sky. The volume utilizes the hylistics established by Christian Zgoll to combine and compare its findings. Der vom Collegium Mythologicum vorgelegte transdisziplinäre Band erforscht mythische Stoffe, die in antiken Kulturen des Mittelmeers und des Vorderen Orients von diesem Transfer berichten. Auf Basis einer neu etablierten Erzählstoff-Forschung (Hylistik) werden die Befunde der einzelnen Beiträge systematisch zusammengeführt und verglichen. Hierdurch erschließt der Band ein reiches Spektrum an Mythen unterschiedlicher Kulturen in Form von Einzelstudien, Überblicksbeiträgen und weiterführenden Auswertungen. Behandelt werden u. a. das Herabbringen des ersten Tempels durch die mesopotamische Göttin Innana, der Feuerraub des Prometheus, der Transfer des Zauberbuchs des ägyptischen Gottes Thot, der Sturz der Krankheitsdämonin Lamastu sowie Jupiters Gabe des Unterpfands der römischen Weltherrschaft. Im Ergebnis erweisen sich die Transfers vom Himmel herab als kognitiv-strukturierend, legitimierend und affektiv-stabilisierend und letztendlich als wichtige mythisch-narrative Beschreibungen für Numinosität.

La médecine moderne aurait été introduite au Maroc par le colonisateur français et serait une conséquence positive de la colonisation. Reda Sadiki revient sur ce postulat bien ancré pour interroger les liens entre médecine et colonialisme. Il démontre, historiographie à l'appui, que la médecine a en fait été un instrument consubstantiel de la politique coloniale et qu'il y a eu non pas un apport à sens unique mais un ensemble d'interactions et d'échanges qui ont nourri la médecine mondiale.

This volume centres on one of the most important questions in the study of antiquity - the interaction between Greece and the Ancient Near East, from the Mycenaean to the Hellenistic periods. Focusing on the stories that the peoples of the eastern Mediterranean told about the gods and their relationships with humankind, the individual treatments draw together specialists from both fields, creating for the first time a truly interdisciplinary synthesis. Old cases are re-examined, new examples discussed, and the whole range of scholarly opinions, past and present, are analysed, critiqued, and contextualised. While direct textual comparisons still have something to show us, the methodologies advanced here turn their attention to deeper structures and wider dynamics of interaction and influence that respect the cultural autonomy and integrity of all the ancient participants.
